On the ten year anniversary of 9/11, Donna Karen, a true New Yorker through and through, paid tribute to her great city at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.

The ‘70s inspired collection channeled a hippy chic aesthetic, featuring wide-brimmed floppy hats, bright retro prints and long floaty maxi dresses, while the iconic streets of New York proved to be the perfect backdrop. The sun kissed models, whose tousled long manes were described by Hair Director Eugene Souleiman to be, “Hamptoms Chic,” made their way down the Manhattan side street catwalk, transporting the audience into a ‘70s summer celebration.

Although, originally struggling with the idea of putting together a runway show on the anniversary of the attacks, Donna Karen honored her city and those lost by not only making New York a significant part and primary element in her colour infused show, but also featuring the following words on the cover of the program,

‘We remember that day 10 years ago that changed our city forever. We remember the courage, the inspiration, the compassion. How we came together, reaffirming our strength to the world. There truly is no place anywhere like our beloved city, New York. Our Inspiration.’
